Programming

 

A number of programs and activities are offered at the Franklin Wellness Center. Other programs may be offered as instructors are available.

Pickleball—four pickleball courts are lined on the gymnasium floor. Portable nets are used. Paddles and balls available. Give your name and cell phone number to Jim Davies to join the text and email group to be notified of play dates and times.

Tennis
*Tennis balls and rackets are available to use. Hit off the wall or a set of volleyball poles can put up with the net dropped to floor level.
*A tennis camp is held in the summer for upper elementary, middle school and high school students.
*A community club has formed for those interested in getting together at the Progress Park tennis courts to hit the ball around or play. Give your name and cell phone number to Jim Davies to join the text and email group to be notified of play dates and times.

Volleyball—There is one lined volleyball court that can be set up by request.

Basketball—six basketball hoops are available during open gym time. A youth basketball camp is held in late November and early December for boys and girls in first thru sixth grades. Skills and fundamentals are taught followed by games and contests.

Flag football is held in October for third and fourth grade boys. Fundamentals are taught and games are played. Hampton-Dumont CAL football players serve as coaches.

Ping pong table—one table, paddles and balls are available. Bike trail—an asphalt path connects the Franklin Wellness Center to Franklin County’s Rolling Prairie trail, a 15 mile bike/walking trail connecting the east edge of Hampton to Coulter, IA. Ride your bike to the Franklin Wellness Center or park your vehicle in FWC’s parking lot to start your ride.

Health Weight Support Group meets Tuesday nights in FWC’s multi-purpose room. Weigh-in at 4:00 p.m. and meeting at 4:15 p.m. Cost is 25 cents a week. Call Vicki Grant at 641-425-1476 or Diana Norem at 641-425-1532 for more information.

Facility orientation and how to use machines and equipment is offered. Workout plans are also available by request.
